Product Description: This charming basket is the perfect way to welcome someone into town. It is filled with local favorite, Scharrfen Berger chocolate squares and cocoa powder. It also comes with 30 postcards by Michael Vernera. From the stately Golden Gate Bridge to the historic Ferry Building, the bustle of Chinatown to the calm of the Japanese Tea Garden, theses postcards show the city at its best. In addition, this basket comes with the San Francisco Ferry Building Plaza Farmers' Market Cookbook. The Ferry Building has been an important structure in the history of San Francisco. It was originally used as a terminal for ferries that travel across the San Francisco Bay and a shopping center located on The Embarcadero. On top of the building is a large clock tower, which can be seen from Market Street, a main thoroughfare of the city. Architecturally, the clock tower was modeled after the 12th century Giralda bell tower in Seville, Spain. In 1939 trains began service from the Transbay Terminal and the Ferry Building fell slowly into disrepair. In 2003, it reopened and the farmer's market became a Saturday staple to San Franciscans, providing fresh seasonal produce. Today, it is home to a number of shops and businesses. |
